If you have been following me on social media then you may have seen some pictures of my progress on the Harry Potter Crochet along Graphgan being hosted by Two Hearts Crochet over on her blog and on facebook.
As soon as I heard about it I simply had to have a go being a potter fan I knew I had to make it.
Its made by using the corner to corner crochet pattern or C2C as they are more commonly known.
Each week the Harry Potter Crochet along releases a pattern for each square for you to complete. Unfortunately I’m a bit behind as I couldn’t pick up the bobbins but since switching to pegs its made it much easier.
The first square is the centre, the Hogwarts crest, and is the biggest square. I chose the simple version without the animals in as I’m not overly confident on my abilities just yet.
Its worked in Aran wool which I couldn’t get the colours for in the UK without spending a small fortune so I’ve settled with using my favourite brand Stylecraft Special DK and I’m using a 4 mm hook and I’ve changed the squares to full doubles instead of half doubles and I’m getting a similar size to the Aran one so I’m happy.
Its a slow process and is taking time but I’m enjoying the change. I will be substituting a square for a Professor Snape or an Always square in tribute to my favourite character in the series. I have a few more bobbins then when this picture was taken and I’ve also started the hufflepuff quarter.
If you want to take part then just pop over to the Two hearts blog page at the top of this post and jump in.
There is also a Dr Who crochet along and will be doing other fandoms along the way which is awesome.
I can see me having alot of blankets by the end of the year, at least we will be warm.
